THE NEW SERIES OF MALAYSIAN BANKNOTES

Natural Wonders

The magnificent beauty of Malaysia's two prominent natural wonders, declared 'World Heritage Sites' by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) are portrayed on the RM100 banknote.

These are the Kinabalu Park in Sabah, home to the majestic Mount Kinabalu (the highest mountain in Southeast Asia) and the spectacular limestone pinnacle rock formations of Gunung Api valley, found within the Mulu National Park in Sarawak.

Together, they represent the many natural wonders of Malaysia that provides visitors a unique experience.

Agriculture and Technology

Oil palm and biotechnology are featured on the RM50 banknote as Malaysia's thriving economy icons. Oil palm has become the country's most valuable agricultural crop as Malaysia is one of the largest producer and exporter of palm oil in the world.

Biotechnology continues to drive this commodity up the value chain, supporting the nation's economic transformation towards higher value-added activities in the agriculture, manufacturing and services sectors of the economy.

Crude palm oil is also used as the underlying commodity to facilitate Islamic financing.

Marine Life

As ambassadors of the rich and colourful marine life found in our tropical waters, two of the most well-known species of sea turtles endemic to Malaysian waters are on the new RM20 banknote - the Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata) and Leatherback Turtle (Dermochelys coriacea).

The Hawksbill is easily identified by its curved beak and scaly shell while the Leatherback has a leathery skin and seven ridges on its shell.

These gentle turtles are a reminder that their existence rests in the delicate balance of human activity and marine life conservation.

Flora

Malaysia's lush tropical jungle, which is one of the world's oldest living rainforest, is home to a spectacular variety of flowering plants. Most iconic amongst them is the Rafflesia, the world's largest flower.

The Rafflesia Azlanii species featured on the new RM10 banknote is indigenous to Peninsular Malaysia and was first discovered in the Royal Belum Forest Reserve of the state of Perak in 2003.

To commemorate its discovery, this majestic flower was named after the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Yusuff Izzuddin Shah Ghafarullahu-Lah.

Widlife

Featured on the new RM5 polymer banknote is the Rhinoceros Hornbill (Buceros rhinoceros), one of the largest and most magnificent hornbill species in the world.

Found in low densities throughout various rainforests in the country, this beautiful, broad-winged and long-tailed forest bird plays an important role in the customs and traditional ceremonies in Sarawak which is known as 'Bumi Kenyalang' or 'Land of Hornbills'.

Hornbill is also seen as a symbol of strength and courage by the native communities of Sarawak.

Traditional Sport

Kite-flying is a popular traditional sport in Malaysia especially in Kelantan and Terengganu. Kite-flying is also traditionally a celebration of a good harvest which brings together the local communities in these states.

Amongst the best-known and most iconic Malaysian kites is the 'Wau Bulan' or Moon Kite which is featured on the new RM1.

The Wau Bulan, which is hand crafted from bamboo and paper, is also a popular decorative item that adorns the walls of Malaysian homes.

This is just a normal 1963 Timor Leste 100 escudos banknote. Most of these banknotes were severely foxed. This one, however escape the severe foxing. Probably just some minor foxing here and there. Could you find one without any foxing?

King George VI $10 Red A Prefixes

These are the ordinary Malayan King George Vi $10 notes issued in 1941, replacing the famous purple $10 issued in 1940 that were withdrawn from circulation. History has it that the merchant ship carrying the 1940 series notes were sunk by the Germany submarine.

The 1940 $10 purple note ended with A/82 prefix. The new red coloured note began with A/83. The last of the red A prefix is A/99. Comparatively, the red A prefixes has much less in numbers compared with the purple $10. Try looking for one anywhere and you will know..

Probably there are collectors out there holding other different red A prefixes. Care to share your collections?

Nothing to gloat about these pair of notes. Not the extraordinary 1980 50 or more known as 8050, but the 9050 in UNC.

Perhaps my friends out there who are more well verse in Chinese notes can enlighten me more why these notes are so much sought after these days

There is nothing to gloat about this note. It's just WWII Burmese Japanese Invasion Money of 5 rupees in UNC. A gift from a friend across the continent of Europe.

I really wonder how many UNC pieces had survived the war era since the last century. Those Japanese Military Government over confidence of the war they fought for probably has resulted these series of notes being issued rampantly without consulting the Treasury Department back in Japan....

Mr Chai stolen Items Part I

I just came back from the house of Mr Chai Chang, a well known collector who was recently been snatched 3 albums of precious collections. Mr Chai was very happy to share with us the information of the collection stolen as much as he could. For those collectors or dealers out there, if you happen to come across anyone who offer you a lot of items at unbelievable price, just watch out.

For identification purpose, the item codes used here will be according to Steven Tan's 18th Std catalog of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei coin and paper money.

As the item stolen were too many, I decided to split the list of items stolen into few parts. This is the 1st part of the list:-

Freak Notes 错题钞票:

1. M73, RM10 Ali centre signature, bottom portion with margin, UNC,

2. M72, RM10 Ali side signature, bottom portion with extra margin, UNC,

3. RM50 Zeti signature, agong potrait with very black ink, 3pcs running numbers, all UNC,

4. M67, RM2, all orange and yellow colours on the obverse (next to the Agong potrait) are ommited. Thus front surface is all whitish in colour.

Blindman Series $5 ND Last Prefix Choice UNC

This is the Blindman series $5 with the last prefix ND. Only 4 prefixes were ever issued, ie. NA - ND, for a short period of time, 1982-1985. Thus less than 40 million pieces were ever issued, what more UNC condition note after near 3 decades.

It's my opinion that one day, these $5 notes in UNC condition will be well sought after one day.

Johanna Maria Lind (October 6, 1820 – November 2, 1887), better known as Jenny Lind, was a Swedish opera singer, often known as the "Swedish Nightingale".

One of the most highly regarded singers of the 19th century, she is known for her performances in soprano roles in Sweden and across Europe, and for an extraordinarily popular concert tour of America beginning in 1850. She was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music from 1840.

Lind became famous after her performance in Der Freischütz in Sweden in 1838. After this, she was in great demand throughout Sweden and the rest of Europe for a decade.

After three acclaimed seasons in London, she was invited to America by P. T. Barnum, where she gave 93 large-scale concerts. She earned $250,000 from these concerts. She returned to Europe, where she became a philanthropist, and, for some years, a professor of singing at the Royal College of Music.

珍尼·林德（1820-1887年），瑞典花腔女高音歌唱家。1820年10月6日林德出生在斯德哥尔摩，是一位教师的私生子。

她很小就生活在剧院里，寄养她的家庭也乐得撒手不管。于是皇家剧院成了她惟一的生活天地。9岁入斯德哥尔摩皇家歌剧学校学习。林德的优美歌喉似乎是天生的，这使她在成为正式演员前比别人得到了更多的实践机会。

当17岁提升为正式演员时，她已经参加了150多场演出。由于剧院生活的耳濡目染，加上有着很好的天分，这时的她实际上已经具备了向歌剧皇后桂冠冲刺的实力。

关于林德的演唱技巧，维也纳的音乐评论家汉斯利克说：林德“极其精巧地模仿了鸟儿的歌唱，几乎超越了音乐的界限。在林德的口中，这种婉转的、清脆的歌声非常美并且迷人。鸟儿的欢乐歌声通过高超的华丽唱法技巧，给我们带来了树林中新鲜的、自然的、令人陶醉的感受”。与他同台演出的男高音歌唱家罗杰则比喻得更为生动：“她歌唱的旋律散发着树林和草原的芳香”。她那特别宽广的音域(B～G3)，纯净而高度灵活的声乐技巧，使她获得了“瑞典夜莺”的美称。

1849年，正当29岁的林德如日中天时，她却宣布退出歌剧舞台，从事音乐会和清唱剧的演唱，直到 1883年。1883-1884年在伦敦皇家音乐学院任教。此后，林德试图在1850年去美国的演出中，在剧团的管理上做出与歌唱同样的成绩。但不幸的是，林德浪漫主义的激情与现实主义的管理总是格格不入。

1852年，林德离开了美国。在以后的日子里，她的主要业绩是在作为家庭主妇方面。1887年11月2日，曾经是最优秀歌唱家和杰出女性的林德去世。

塞尔玛•拉格洛夫(1858年11月20日~1940年3月16日)，女性，瑞典人。1909年诺贝尔文学奖获得者，她是瑞典第一位得到这一荣誉的作家，也是世界上第一位获得这一文学奖的女性。

塞尔玛•拉格洛夫出生在瑞典西部伐姆兰省的一个世袭贵族地主的家庭。她的童年时代是在家乡美丽的庄园和家庭教师的陪伴下度过的。1885年她从斯德哥尔摩罗威尔女子师范学院毕业，受聘到伦茨克罗纳斯女子中学教了十年书，在这里她开始创作她的第一部文学作品。

1891年，塞尔玛•拉格洛夫的第一部文学作品《戈斯泰•贝林的故事》出版，这部以19世纪20年代一位年轻的牧师的遭遇为主要情节的小说立刻成为了畅销书。这本书使塞尔玛•拉格洛夫一跃成为瑞典的著名小说家。1894年她又创作了短篇小说集《有形的锁环》。这一时期她的主要作品还有赞扬宗教慈善事业的小说《假基督的故事》（1897），故事集《古代斯堪的纳维亚神话集》（1899）和以巴勒斯坦的瑞典移民的生活为题材的史诗小说《耶路撒冷》（1901~1902），后一部作品被认为是她艺术才华发展到完美的表现。

1902年，塞尔玛•拉格洛夫受瑞典国家教师联盟委托为孩子们编写一部以故事的形式来介绍地理学，生物学和民俗学等知识的教科书。4年后这部以童话形式写成的长篇小说《骑鹅旅行记》出版了，立刻大受欢迎。

鉴于塞尔玛•拉格洛夫在创作上的杰出贡献，1909年，她由于“她作品中特有的高贵的理想主义、丰富的想象力、平易而优美的风格”获得诺贝尔文学奖。1914年，她被选为瑞典皇家科学院的第一位女院士。

一战爆发后，塞尔玛•拉格洛夫深居简出，也使她忧心如焚。

她的最后一部小说《圣诞节的故事》出版于1938年，变现了作者对劳动者的同情。
二战爆发后，塞尔玛•拉格洛夫把自己的诺贝尔奖章送给芬兰政府，为后者筹钱进行苏芬战争。芬兰政府非常感动，但把奖章归还了她。

1940年3月16日，塞尔玛•拉格洛夫在庄园去世。在去世前不久，这位女作家还以她个人的影响力，通过瑞典皇室，向德国纳粹政权交涉，从集中营里救出了犹太女作家，后来于1966年获得诺贝尔文学奖的奈莉•萨克斯女士及她的母亲。

South Korean 10000 Won UNC

South Korean 2nd largest denomination, 10,00 won.

The obverse depicts Sejong the Great (May 7, 1397 – May 18, 1450, r. 1418 – 1450), the fourth king of the Joseon Dynasty. During his regency, he acquired firm foundation of the state by reinforcing Confucius politics and executing major legal amendments (공법; 貢法).

Furthermore, from the creation of Hangul and advancement of scientific technologies, he utilized the accumulated power to expand the territory. He is the third son of King Taejong and Queen-Consort WonKyeong-Min.

Sejong is one of only two Korean rulers posthumously honored with the appellation "the Great", the other being Gwanggaeto the Great of Goguryeo.

Finally I caught hold of the latest edition of Steven Tan's Standard Catalogue of Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Coin and Papermoney, 19th edition.

I am very lucky enough to have purchase the catalogue while he was in office. I did not waste my opportunity to grab the chance to have him autograph my new catalogue, which Mr Steven gladly signed. I will upload the photo later.

Among the items that caught my 1st attention are:

1. 1931-1935 Straits Settlement $1, $5 and $10 notes prices has gone up by abt 30% or more in average.

2. 1959 Malaya and British Borneo Kapal Layar $1 A prefix Waterlow version. The new catalogue price was RM550 for a UNC....

3. 1982 Malaysia blindman series $50, where a UNC piece will cost RM350....

4. 1998 Malaysia Ahmad Don RM100 AN-AP prefix, where the new price for a UNC is RM260....

South Korean 1000 Won UNC

This is the South Korean 1000 won that i have as a results from exchanging with a friend in Seoul. I also have the 5,000 and 10,000 won in my collection. I still lack the 50,000won to complete the UNC set .

The portrait in the obverse is Yi Hwang, who is one of the two most prominent Korean Confucian scholars of the Joseon Dynasty, the other being his younger contemporary Yi I.

I am not very sure how true is this but to me, this looks like a Hawaii word....

The 1st and 2nd word looks like Ha...while the white colour of the background design form the "W" alphabet. last but not least, the last few alphabets..."aii"

So if you join all the alphabets, you get... Hawaii...Ola

In 1988, the government decided to demonetized the $1. As a result, a new $1 coin was designed, strucked and issued for circulation between 1989-1999. In the 10 years period, the government found out that there were too many counterfeit $1 coins in the market and decided to reintroduced the RM1 banknotes in 1998.

In 1999 a new RM1 was designed, printed and ready for circulation. The banknotes were then in all banks all over the country ready to be issued into circulation when suddenly the Governor then, Ali Abul Hassan suddenly resigned and stepped down in protest of the then government certain policy. Current Governor Zeti Aziz took over as governor of BNM(Bank Negara Malaysia, Malaysia Central Bank) few days later.

This new design of RM1 with Ali Abul Hassan signatory were eventually never issued into circulation. However, a small number of this new design notes with the prefic CR were accidentally released to the public. Thus the term CR became famous overnight when collectors knew about the scarcity of these notes. It is estimated that only about 1000++ pieces were still available in the market. The numbers are dwindling as public are still unaware of or never even seen it, banked into the banks. Bankers were ordered to collect back all these CR and surrender to BNM for cancellation.

A UNC piece of this "CR" would call for RM1500++ per piece.

When Zeti Aziz took over BNM, a similar design notes with her signature were released into circulation in 2000. In 2010, the Malaysian banknotes prefix system enters another milestone when tripple alphabets were used instead of 2 alphabets, a tradition that had been here since 1982.

In this posting, I would like to introduce to you the $1 issued in between 1982-1986, during Aziz Taha and Jafar Hussein reign as governor of BNM.

In 1982, a brand new series with complete new design and prefix system were introduced. This is the famous BLINDMAN series because this is the 1st time Malaysia in-corporate blindman features to facilitate blind people to recognise the value of the notes. There were 2 different printers for this Blindman Series, namely Bradbury Wilkinson and TDLR.

The new design were then redesigned in 1985 when Jafar Hussein took over as the Governor of Malaysia Central Bank or BNM. Again, there were 2 different set for this Jafar Hussein $1 note, where one is with security thread while the other is without security thread.

Malaysia issued her 1st $1 in 1967. I would like to introduced to everyone the $1 issued between 1967-1981 that bears similar designs.

The $1 issued 1967-1976 have similar signatory, Ismail Mohd Ali, while the 1981 series was Aziz Taha. Upon close inspection, one will find spelling changes in some wordings in the the banknotes, apart from the minor changes in the banknote design.

In 1953, a new set of banknotes were introduced in Malaya and British Boreno. The banknotes carried Queen Elizabeth II portrait.

In 1959, after Malaya obtained her independence in 1957, a new set of $1 were introduced. This series of notes were called the boat series, or in Malay language, kapal layar series.

Most notes are in UNC conditions unless stated otherwise in the item description.

Some of these notes have been posted in the previous blog posts but for completeness of the $1 set sharing, I have no choice but to put them up again here in these postings. My sincere apologies for this.

In 1982, a modern Malaysia banknotes series were issued. This series of banknotes was called the Blindman Series. The tigerhead watermark was replaced with the King's portrait. No more fractional prefixes, and the serial numbers were increased from 6 digits to 7 digits. The design of the banknotes were all based on the traditional cultures in Malaysia.

I have here the $50 note in Choice UNC condition up for sharing.

To all the Malaysian banknotes collectors out there....

There is a mistake about how most collector would "label" the portrait on Malaysian banknote on the obverse, that i would like to clarify....

Regarding Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Abdul Rahman...

For clarification, the person potrayed on the obverse is

Colonel Paduka Sri Sir TUANKU ABDUL RAHMAN(1895-1960), the 1st YDP AGUNG , supreme head of state of Malaysia, originally the Yang Dipertuan Besar of a state called Negeri Sembilan.....His vignette is on the obverse of all Malaysia banknotes.

TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN(1903-1990) on the other hand was never portrayed in the notes except the latest 50th years of independent RM50 Note in the REVERSE SIDE....TUNKU is the Bapa Malaya and Bapa Malaysia also, or the Father of Independence and Father of Malaysia. Tunku is a prince from the state called Kedah on the Northern region of Malaysia............

So please don embarass yourself with the wrong notation/quotation....

1981 Aziz Taha Sepuluh Ringgit Running Numbers Choice UNC

２张连号１９８１年发行的十块钱。。。CHOICE UNC。

这系列的钱币，所有面额 CHOICE UNC 品相都是比较罕见。这个系列也是马币最后一个引用老虎头为水墨印和分子分母系列号码的系列。

这是因为１９８１年发行后，中央银行在１９８２年就发行了盲人系列。

１９８１年的系列只发行一年罢了就停止发行。。

所以发行量不大，能够保存着Original UNC 已经不简单，Choice UNC和连号更是少之又少。

In 1981, BNM issued a new sepuluh ringgit bearing the new governor signature. This is the last of the old Malaysian notes that bears the tiger head watermark and fractional serial numbers.

In 1982, BNM issued the new Blindman series notes. Thus, making the circulated note of this series in the market then relatively small compared to other series.

Having being issued for only a year, furthermore it is in choice unc and running numbers, it is not overexagerated for me to say that this is definitely a "rare" find....though it is still faraway from being a masterpiece of my collection.

Recently an auction in China had a deal closed for these set of 1954-1958 Economic Construction Bond specimen set. The deal was closed at RMB24,640, approximately RM12,000.

Though the items auctioned off are not banknotes in particular, but as my theme of collection is on specimen...so this has eventually attracted my attention. According to some collectors, these bond specimens sets are now very hard to get in a booklet set, what more in a complete 1954-1958 set.

This is the second series of bond that the current chinese government had issued ever since the Communist Party took over in 1949, The first one being issued in 1950..

马来亚的钱币价格恐怕又得再次标升
今天看到报纸（星洲日报）。。。
１９５３年的QEII一千元久钞票已经在mavin的拍卖会以３０万元新记录拍卖出。。

根据报道，这张旧钞票来自马六甲。。。
有两位买家苦战了１０分钟，最终当场的一位投标者以１２万新币标得。。。
看来海峡、马来亚甚至早期的马币会有另一轮的起价风。
这次的拍卖价格恐怕会导致其他面值的钞票水涨船高，全面上升。。。

Read it in today’s Sin Chew newspaper that a piece of 1953 QEII 1000 dollars, from Melaka, was recently auctioned in MAVIN International. It was sold to a buyer at about RM300,000.

Whoosh....what a price to go..

Looks like there will be another upsurge in the values of Malayan banknotes...

1995 - 1998 Ahmad Don RM10 Specimen Banknote AA Prefix

This is another masterpiece in my collection of specimen banknote family. This is a 1995 Ahmad Don RM10 specimen with AA prefix.

If you study the prefixes issued under this Gabenor and printer...Oh ya forget to mention that the printer is Francois Charles Oberthur....you will see the rarity as well as the scarcity of this specimen note.....

No no no...I am not going to spoil the fun by telling you why it is rare....however, do allow me to give you a hint....the last known circulated prefix was YR before the release of the Wawasan series in 1998....

Furthermore it comes with a very auspicious specimen number 0098, meaning rich for long time.....

Has anyone ever thought of the definition of modern Malaysia banknotes???

When should we draw the line for modern Malaysia banknotes???

For many collectors, I believe this is a problem as it was never mentioned or clearly defined. Some may say from the 1st series 1967, some may say 1982 blind man series while another may refer to the Wawasan series...

If we study the Malaysian Banknotes history, Malaysia was formed in 1963 but only started issuing her own banknotes in 1967. The 1st series until the 4th series in 1981 all carries similar designs....amongst the features the note carry are also those security features from the colonial era. These features includes the tiger head watermark and fractional prefixes, and old spelling ofcertain Malay words.

The blindman series started in 1982 overturn all the these features, the tiger head wayermark was replaced with YDP Agongs portrait, Fractional prefixes becomes double alphabets prefixes, and the background designs used local tradition concepts that portrays the multiracial indiviuality of Malaysia. These clearly indicates a brand new Malaysia look away from the colonial influences.

So for me, the 1st - 4th Malaysia notes are considered to be Old Malaysian note, while those beginning 1982 Blindman series are considered Modern Malaysian Banknotes...

1959 Kapal Layar $1 1st Number 000001 VF

A new family member to my low serial number collection. A 1959 Kapal Layar (in Malay Language) or Fishing boat series numero uno...number 1.

Its not in UNC condition, because I definitely cannot afford an UNC one. Also an UNC is extremely rare and scarce. This note is in original Very Fine condition and more than half of my one month salary is gone just wanna own this piece of note.

1995 - 1998 Ahmad Don RM100 Banknote by Harrison and Sons

This is the rarest modern Malaysian RM100 that one could find. It was printed by Harrison and Sons. An earlier print with same design was by Thomas De LaRue, taking the prefixes from AG to AM.

The reason behind its rarity is that there are only 2 prefixes printed by Harrison and Sons....Namely AN and AP. This means that only 20 million pieces were printed at most.

After AP prefix, a new design, the WAWASAN series were released. This completely limited the number of these banknotes being circulated in the market.

The catalog price for this note is RM220, which i think is seriously undervalued...if anyone happens to come across a high grade such as UNC, AUNC, or even GEF...my recommendation...grab it...the chance of having a great piece of collection like this may never come again...

RM10 Uncut Series Pair

A pair of RM10 uncut series of 2 pairs, old and new design.

Both these two notes are no longer in circulation. Both of the designs were signed by the Gabenor then, Ahmad Don. The new design has the signature on the left side vertically while the old design has the signature in the middle.

Notice that the new design has no holographic strip on the right hand side? This holograhic strip was only later featured in the Zeti aziz series as a security feature.

1982 Aziz Taha Blindman Series RM20 Banknote Unc

This is the 1982 Blindman series RM20 uncirculated condition banknote. This is the first of the 2 types of RM20 ever released in Malaysian Currencies history. This note is no longer in circulation and commands a high price if you are looking for an original UNC.

Only 5 prefixes were issued for this series, ie. TA-TE, from TF onwards, it was the second set with the signature of the new Gabenor, Jafar Hussein.

The first prefix TA is currently calling for a price of about RM200-RM250 for UNC, more than ten times of its face value in just about 30 years and is expected to increase exponentially over the next few years as the surviving pieces in high grades are extremely low in numbers.

I have yet to collect all the various uncut set of papernotes. There are few of them to make a complete set. RM1, RM2, RM5, RM10, and RM50(SUKOM). Here i share with you my uncut RM5 set of 2 pairs with old edition and new WAWASAN edition.

The old edtion was signed by Ahmad Don while the WAWASAN edition was by Ali Abul Hassan. Both of these notes are no longer in circulation as the current currency is the polymer RM5 by Zeti Aziz.

Malaysia RM20 Jafar Husein Original UNC

A now very hot item among the collectors, a very rare JAFAR HUSSEIN RM20 in ORIGINAL UNC.

Malaysia only issued 2 diferent series of RM20, 1st one being AZIZ TAHA, known as the blindman series. This is the second set. Currently priced at RM60-80 for UNC. I believe that the price will continue to shoot up as the AZIZ TAHA version has already reach an amazing price of RM150-200 recently for an ordinary UNC.

1981 Aziz Taha 4th Series RM50 Solid Number 1 Original Fresh UNC

I recently bought this from a friend in Singapore. This is a 4th series RM50 solid number 1. The 4th series issued in 1981 was the last issue with the old design with tiger head water mark. It was issued for a year before the new design known as the Blindman Series was issued in 1982.

This issue was very limited as in those days, the serial numbers were only 6 digits, not like today, 7 digits. So it takes 10 prefixes to form a prefix a nowadays.

Furthermore, many of the high denomination notes(RM1000, 100 and 50) were never released into the market, or collected back in 1982 and were destroyed later on.

The best solid numbers I have seen so far is the Fresh UNC solid 8 under my friend's collections.

These pair of 2 dollar notes are different from my previous 2 pcs as they do not carry the the Queen's vignette anymore.

RM2 Ahmad Don Low Serial Numbers Banknote

This is a 1943 World War II Japanese Invasion Money error note. The obverse and reverse side of this note is of opposite direction.

First time i have seen this kind of error note. Furthermore, it is issued during the second world war, which is more than 60 years ago.

I would grade it as a rare item.

This is a complete set of RM2 replacement notes i have in my collection. Other than the rare ZB in GEF condition, the others are all in Original UNC conditions.

The ZB is amongst the rarest rerplacement modern Malaysian banknotes. An Unc note commands a very high price that goes beyond RM1000.00. So far i have only seen 2 Original UNC running numbers

Malaysia contoh or specimen notes are very rare as they seldom appear in the market. I have this piece from a very good friend of mine.

Among all the Malaysia specimen notes, this is the most common and easiest to get hold of. Still it cost me quite an amount.

It is this piece of specimen note that sparked my interest in collecting specimen notes. This is the RM5 issued during Jafar Hussein, who was the Bank Negara Malaysia Governor then. From then onwards, my specimen notes collection started to grow.

I have yet to go into foreign notes in serious but i have some collections to share with everyone. This is a set of GBP5. 10, and 20 notes in original uncirculated conditions and signed by the current chief casher Andrew Bailey.

It's a bit hard to come across brand new, or uncirculated notes in UK as the banks or post office do not simply issue brand new notes for ANG POW, which the mat salleh don't practice...you need to buy from dealers apparently.

Kapal Layar Waterlow and Sons A prefix original uncirculated

Kapal Layar Thomas De La Rue Rare A prefix in original uncirculated condition. Very very rare to get this kind of condition.

I managed to track that the waterlow series was issued until prefix of A71 and that the Thomas was from prefix A74. So the switching of printer was between A72 or A73.

This also means that the A prefix of Thomas de La Rue is definitely a very scarce and rare find in original uncirculated condition as the amount of A prefix for TDLR is only 1/3 of waterlow and sons

PS(9/11/09): I can now confirmed that the printer switched at A/71 as I had come across 2 pieces of A/71 notes where one is by Waterlow while the other is by TDLR.

Kapal Layar Thomas De La Rue C prefix in running numbers in original uncirculated condition.

This is an almost completed set of 1959 Kapal Layar set of 0ne dollar note. The only piece i haven't got is the B prefix in original uncirculated condition.

PS: I finally found the B prefix original UNC piece of kapal layar...
